A clinical pharmacologist with a Doctorate degree is available at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital Monday through Friday. The pharmacist reviews every medication order your physician prescribes for you 24 hours a day. The pharmacist also watches for potential interactions between medications and food. The pharmacist meets with all patients to ensure a good understanding of why medications have been ordered and the intended purpose.
Our pharmacist is happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have about your medication. The pharmacist can also instruct you in the correct way to take medications. Be sure to report any unusual feelings or symptoms if you have started any new medications while you are hospitalized.
Emergency room patients who are prescribed medication after regular pharmacy hours can receive short-term medications like antibiotics or muscle relaxants through the InstyMeds dispenser. This fully automated ATM-style machine dispenses prescription medication to ER patients during those times when the local pharmacy is not open. The InstyMeds machine requires use of an ATM or credit card. Cash is not accepted. Over the counter medications are available 24 hours a day.
